Actors are usually only recognized after they have become famous. However, before they became household names, they were known for a character they played rather than their own names. In the heyday of “Home Alone,” for example, who hasn’t mistaken Macaulay Culkin for Kevin McCallister? Rocky, as Sylvester Stallone is known? Or did you get Lawrence Tureaud and Mr. T from the A-Team mixed up? That’s the gist of it. Despite this, there are times when it doesn’t matter. Actors and the roles they play are frequently fused to the point where they become inseparable in our minds.
Ard Gelinck, a graphic designer from the Netherlands, separates the inseparable and compares the two sides of the actor, the role and the performer. He does this in such a way that they appear to be conversing and hanging out together. In some ways, they are. It gives us a glimpse into the past, a harkening back to a bygone era. It makes us think about how they and their careers have changed (or not) since they played the characters we know and love.

He went on to say more about his time with Bored Panda: “When you consider that my brother and I created the first image for it about 10 years ago,” Gelinck told Bored Panda, “the ‘Then and Now’ series is quite old.” “I started editing pictures for a lot of Dutch celebrities about 5 years ago, and it was a success, so I moved on to working with foreign celebrity photos. Madonna was the first, and she even shared my photo on her Instagram.”
The Queen of Pop, however, isn’t the only celebrity who has praised and praised his work publicly. Others who have praised him include Rob Lowe, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Annie Lennox, BeeGees, Jason Priestly, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Carice van Houten, Sylvester Stallone, Robbie Williams, Michael Douglas, Ricky Gervais, and many more. “When I think about it,” Gelinck said, “the list is quite impressive.”

People enjoy “taking a trip down memory lane,” according to the digital artist, who believes his photomontages are popular. And to some extent, this is correct. Simply looking at them can trigger serious flashbacks to one’s childhood or the thriving ’80s and ’90s. Someone might even feel compelled to rewatch their favorite shows or films featuring these actors. Gelinck’s work is an experience in and of itself, no matter how you look at it.
