ToonHole Chris, whose real name is Chris Allison and who gave an interview to Bored Panda, stated that he has been working as a cartoonist for the past ten years. The comic book artist explained that he draws inspiration for his work from various sources. “A discussion, a book, an overheard chat, a word taken out of context, or witnessing somebody fall on the pavement. Chris exclaimed, “There are no hard and fast laws!” When the Artist creates a comic, he uses a wide variety of digital and analog elements, and the process takes him approximately three hours to complete a single comic.

Chris admitted that he has had an interest in art since he was a kid and that he still draws pictures for his classmates from when he was in elementary school. “My recommendation to anyone interested in writing comics to make other people laugh is straightforward: get started. Making comics is the only way to become proficient at the art of comic book creation; there is no other way or shortcut. The Artist encouraged the student to “make wonderful drawings, do horrible drawings, and do whatever she could.”

“Don’t beat yourself-up about it; everyone has a bad day now and again (my comics maybe more frequently than others), and it happens to the best of us. Failure is an inevitable part of the learning process and in no way serves as evidence of one’s potential,” Chris concluded. “Don’t stop doing comics, but do your best to make each new one even better than the last! I am continuing to work on achieving my goal. Just before I pass away, I’ll complete the best comic of my life! I hope you will come-along on the adventure with me.”

Like many other artists, Chris’s life was negatively impacted by the epidemic; nonetheless, he acknowledges that he is fortunate to have been-able to maintain his employment throughout the crisis. My day job as an animator has not been negatively impacted because most of our work from studios can be completed at home. Chris stated, “I’ve been working in television for the past 11 years (SpongeBob, Looney Tunes, and Uncle Grandpa), and I’m currently working on my first feature film.” “When I go home from work, I sketch even more so I can make comics like the ones you see here. Even though there is a lot of misery in the world right now, I am prioritizing using the time I have to make other people laugh as much as possible.
